Annual Thanksgiving Dinner

Our Pilgrim ancestors would be expecting a minimum  of a two hour sermon. The singing of hymns typically involved the Deacons "lining out" the lines from the Psalms.

                       The Tythingman tickled parishioners
                        who might
be nodding off during the
                        sermon.

The kitchen comes alive with activity as everyone helps with the final preparations. Someone, out of the goodness of their heart, arrives at the church in the wee hours of the morning, to begin cooking the turkeys. The remainder of the congregation arrives, at a more reasonable  hour, with food in hand to be shared at the dinner, which takes place following the worship service.

Everyone waits patiently(?) as the final touches are made to the Thanksgiving feast.

Let the eating begin!
